PHONOLOGICAL – ARTICULAR DISORDER

The joint concerns the production of sounds. The normal joint is a series of complex movements. The precondition for precise articulation is based on the precise positioning, sequence, timing, correct direction and strength of the joints.

Joint Disorder

In joint disorder, the child chooses the right phoneme but pronounces it incorrectly, due to a deficiency of the joint mechanism. In other words, it can be caused by an abnormal structure of the joints or a misunderstanding of the articular motor pattern.

Phonological Disorder

In phonological disorder the child chooses and uses the wrong phoneme due to reduced perception, processing and organization of phonemes in a word.

The cause of a joint disorder is a malfunction of the speech production mechanism, as opposed to a phonological disorder which is caused by incorrect mental organization of phonemes.
